- Punch: Digitizing for Embroidery Design, Bonnie Nielsen, Verlagshaus Gruber, 2010, ISBN 978-3-00-030071-4.
- Digitizing 101, Thomas L Moore, Jr, Strawberry Stitch Co., St. Louis, Missouri, 1999. Very good, but pricey. Emphasizes theory rather than how to use any specific software. The one topic that I wish it covered was design for embroidery. For example, I would like to create a Portland, Oregon embroidery showing the city and Mount Hood. How many or how few colors should I choose to use? How much or how little detail should I include?
